hiking tours on vancouver island north
Let local guides show you the hidden gems of Vancouver Island North. Our day hikes that leave from Port Hardy, BC will give you an off-the-beaten-path and authentic experience that is completely hassle-free. Our favourite locations to explore include San Josef Bay and Cape Scott Provincial Park. These are rugged and iconic places that require some know-how and preparation to enjoy properly. Let us drive the active (an often rough) logging roads, pack the safety gear, organize the lunches, and provide you with an in-depth interpretation of the area and history.
San Josef Bay boasts some of the most impressive sea stacks on Vancouver Island and also has sea caves to explore. During low tide the tidal pools are teaming with life and offer guests countless opportunities to view intertidal creatures in their natural habitat.
The hike to San Josef Bay takes guests through beautiful stands of old growth forests and shows how forests are able to ‘naturally’ manage themselves. From the many western red cedar ‘nurse logs’ to the hemlock trees that may have been rotten and blown down in a wind storm to the huge root masses of the Sitka spruce trees, it’s all pretty magical and eye-opening.
The lush forests and pristine beaches offer endless photo opportunities. The tour to San Josef Bay is suitable for all ages and hiking levels. We also offer custom hiking tours and charters for guests who would like to venture even further into the wild, west coast of Vancouver Island North. Exploring with us will be full of nature, adventure, and completely stress-free.
